iMac parts compatibility by model, A-number and EMC

The iMac line runs from the 21.5-inch and 27-inch Intel all-in-ones to the slim 24-inch Apple Silicon M1, M3 and M4 models, and the internal parts changed dramatically across that range. Screen size alone is not enough to identify an iMac because Apple shipped several 21.5-inch and 27-inch revisions with different displays, storage and logic boards. The table below maps every iMac we stock parts for to its A-number, EMC number, model identifier, screen size and processor so you can confirm your exact machine first.

Warning: These parts are model-specific. Confirm your exact A-number or EMC number against the correct row below before ordering. The wrong logic board, display, or battery will not fit.

How do I identify my iMac model?

The model number beginning with A is printed on the foot or the underside near the stand, and the EMC number sits in the same block of text. You can also open System Information from the Apple menu and read the model identifier. Any of these matches a single row in the table above, which lists the correct display, storage and logic board options for that machine.

Do all 27-inch iMacs use the same display panel?

No. Apple used different display assemblies across the 27-inch Retina 5K generations, with changes to the panel, timing controller and adhesive between years. A display from one 27-inch iMac will not fit another of a different year, so confirm the A-number in the table before ordering a screen.

Does the Apple Silicon 24-inch iMac share parts with the Intel iMacs?

No. The 24-inch M1, M3 and M4 iMac is a completely new design with a thin chassis, an external power brick and a bonded 4.5K display, so none of its major parts interchange with the older Intel 21.5-inch or 27-inch iMacs. Use the processor column to confirm whether your iMac is Intel or Apple Silicon.

Where do I find the EMC number on an iMac?

The EMC number is printed alongside the A-number and regulatory marks on the aluminium foot or the lower edge of the chassis. It is a manufacturing revision code that occasionally separates two builds sharing one A-number, and it is listed in the table wherever Apple published it.
