The MacBook Air spans the wedge-shaped Intel models, the Retina redesign and the flat Apple Silicon M1 through M4 machines, and parts do not carry across those eras. Because several MacBook Air generations share very similar external looks, the A-number on the underside and the model identifier reported by macOS are the only reliable way to tell them apart. The table below lists every MacBook Air we supply parts for with its A-number, EMC number, model identifier, screen size and chip so you can confirm your exact machine first.
Warning: These parts are model-specific. Confirm your exact A-number or EMC number against the correct row below before ordering. The wrong logic board, display, or battery will not fit.
Read the model number beginning with A on the underside of the machine, or hold Option, open the Apple menu, choose System Information and read the model identifier. The wedge-shaped models taper to a thin edge, the Retina and Apple Silicon models are uniformly flat, and the table above pairs each look with its exact A-number and parts.
No. The M1 Air kept the tapered Retina chassis, while the M2, M3 and later Air moved to a flat redesign with a different battery pack, top case and display assembly. They are not interchangeable, so match your model identifier (for example Mac14,2 for the M2 Air) to the correct row before ordering a battery.
Only small shared items such as certain screws or feet cross over. The display, battery, top case, logic board and speakers are all sized to the specific screen, so a 15-inch Air part will not fit a 13-inch Air even in the same model year. The screen-size column in the table makes the distinction clear.
The EMC number is printed in the same block of small text on the underside as the A-number and regulatory marks. It is a manufacturing revision code that can separate two builds that share one A-number, and it appears in the table wherever Apple published it for that model.
