What Affects the Cost

MacBook model and year

Newer models with Liquid Retina XDR (mini-LED) displays cost more than older standard Retina panels. The 16-inch MacBook Pro display assembly is more expensive than the 13-inch.

Display technology

Standard Retina LCD panels cost less than Liquid Retina XDR (mini-LED) panels. The technology inside the display directly impacts the replacement part cost.

Type of damage

A cracked panel requires full panel replacement. Flexgate (backlight cable), Staingate (coating), and connector issues can often be repaired at the component level for less.

Part availability

Current-generation display parts are readily available. Older or discontinued model parts may have limited availability, which can affect pricing and turnaround.

WarriorMac vs. Apple Store

Apple Store screen replacement runs $299-$899+ depending on model, often with a 1-2 week turnaround and no option for component-level repair. WarriorMac offers the same genuine parts at 40-75% lower pricing with typical 1-3 day turnaround.

How to tell what is actually wrong with your display

Not every dark or damaged screen needs a new panel, and the difference is usually visible in under a minute. Shine a bright torch at an angle across the screen with the Mac powered on. If you can make out the desktop faintly under the light, the panel and the graphics are both working and only the backlight has failed, which is a backlight circuit or cable fault rather than a broken display.

If the image is present but shows uneven pools of light along the bottom edge, or the backlight cuts out once the lid passes roughly 40 degrees, that is flexgate on the 2016 to 2018 MacBook Pro. The display flex cable fatigues where it wraps around the display board, and because the cable is bonded into the panel on those models the repair is a complete display assembly.

Vertical or horizontal coloured lines that are visible in the boot screen before macOS loads point at the panel or the graphics rather than software. Lines that appear only after login usually mean a driver or a display profile issue and cost nothing to fix. We check all three of these before quoting, which is why our diagnosis is free.

What actually drives the price

The single biggest factor is whether the model uses a standard Retina LCD or a Liquid Retina XDR mini-LED panel. The mini-LED assemblies used in the 14-inch and 16-inch MacBook Pro from 2021 onward contain thousands of individually driven LED zones, and Apple prices the service part accordingly. A 13-inch Retina panel from 2016 is a fraction of that.

The second factor is whether the damage stopped at the panel. A drop that cracked the glass often also bent the lid, and a bent lid stops the new assembly seating square, so the housing has to be corrected or replaced as well. A screen that failed after a spill frequently has corrosion on the display connector on the logic board, and fitting a new panel onto a corroded connector simply reproduces the fault.

The third factor is turnaround. Current generation assemblies are in normal supply and we usually complete the work in one to three business days after the machine arrives. Panels for discontinued models can take longer to source, and we tell you the expected wait at quote time rather than after you have committed.

What you get for the price

Every display we fit is a genuine Apple part, which is what keeps True Tone, auto brightness and the factory colour calibration working, because that calibration data lives inside the panel itself. Aftermarket panels commonly lose True Tone and sit visibly cooler than the original. Brand new parts carry a one year warranty and pre-owned parts carry 180 days.

We are in Tampa and walk-ins are welcome with no appointment, so you can bring the machine in, have it looked at while you wait and leave with a fixed price. If you are not local we handle the same work mail-in, and the machine is photographed on arrival and before it ships back.

Frequently Asked Questions

How much does it cost to fix a cracked MacBook screen?

Cracked MacBook screen repair at WarriorMac starts from $125 and ranges up to $899 for the most expensive Liquid Retina XDR panels. The exact cost depends on your MacBook model. We provide a free diagnosis and exact quote before any work begins.

Is it worth replacing a MacBook screen or should I buy a new MacBook?

In most cases, screen replacement is significantly cheaper than buying a new MacBook. A $300-$500 screen repair on a $1,500-$3,000 machine is almost always worth it if the rest of the Mac is in good condition.

Do you use genuine Apple screens?

Yes. We use genuine Apple display assemblies and panels. This ensures True Tone, auto-brightness, and all display features work correctly after repair.

How long does MacBook screen repair take?

Most screen replacements are completed within 1-3 business days after we receive your device. Complex repairs or rare parts may take longer.

What warranty comes with screen repair?

Screen repairs using brand-new genuine Apple parts carry a 1-year warranty. Repairs using pre-owned parts carry a 180-day warranty.
