About this part
The Cowling, Audio Board Flex Cable (Apple part number 923-03212) is a genuine Apple part that fits the MacBook Pro (13-inch, 2020, 2 TBT3) and MacBook Pro (13-inch, 2019, 2 TBT3). This cowling is the small metal cover that clamps the Audio Board flex cable connector to the logic board. That connector links the audio board, headphone jack and Touch ID sensor to the logic board. If it is missing or bent, the connector can lift slightly and the audio and Touch ID can become unreliable.
Before you order, match the model identifier on your Mac (Apple menu, About This Mac, System Report) to one of the identifiers listed for this part: MacBookPro16,3 and MacBookPro15,4.
Signs the cowling needs replacing
- Touch ID fails to read fingerprints or will not enroll
- No sound from the speakers or headphone jack
- Audio crackles or cuts out when the Mac is moved
- Touch ID or audio stopped working after the case was opened
Not sure the cowling is the real cause? We diagnose the Mac before replacing anything, and we can install this genuine Apple part for you through our MacBook Pro repair service, in our Tampa shop or by mail-in repair from anywhere in the US.
