About this part
The Hard Drive Carrier w/ Grommets (Apple part number 922-9961) is a genuine Apple part that fits the Mac mini (Mid 2011 Server), Mac mini Late 2012, Mac mini Mid 2011 and 1 other model. The storage drive holds macOS and all of your files, so it affects boot time, app speed, and data safety.
Before you order, match the model identifier on your Mac (Apple menu, About This Mac, System Report) to one of the identifiers listed for this part: Macmini5,3, Macmini6,1, Macmini5,1 / Macmini5,2 and Macmini6,2.
Signs the storage drive needs replacing
- A flashing folder with a question mark at startup
- Very slow boots, beach balls, or apps that freeze while saving
- Disk Utility errors or a drive that does not show up
- Clicking or grinding sounds from a hard drive
Not sure the storage drive is the real cause? Our SSD upgrade service starts with a full diagnosis, and we can install this genuine Apple part for you through our Mac mini repair service, in our Tampa shop or by mail-in repair from anywhere in the US.
