About this part
The Solid State Drive (SSD) PCIe 1TB (Apple part number 661-7540) is a genuine Apple part that fits the iMac (Retina 5K, 27-inch, Mid 2015), iMac 27-inch 5K Late 2015, iMac 27-inch Late 2013 and 6 other models. The storage drive holds macOS and all of your files, so it affects boot time, app speed, and data safety.
Before you order, match the model identifier on your Mac (Apple menu, About This Mac, System Report) to one of the identifiers listed for this part: iMac15,1, iMac17,1, iMac14,2, Macmini7,1, MacPro6,1, MacBookPro12,1 and 3 other models.
Signs the storage drive needs replacing
- A flashing folder with a question mark at startup
- Very slow boots, beach balls, or apps that freeze while saving
- Disk Utility errors or a drive that does not show up
- Clicking or grinding sounds from a hard drive
